NCIM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
OBJECTIVE:
To foster closer ties between the Nigerian Community in Milwaukee, Inc. and young people in the metro Milwaukee area.
WHO QUALIFIES:
Any high school senior in the Milwaukee Public School (MPS) system who meets the following criteria will be considered:
(1) African descent
(2) GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last semester of junior year and first
semester of senior year.
THE SCHOLARSHIP:
$500 a year for 4 years in any field of study in a college. To maintain eligibility, a GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Applications are available from the Office of:
Guidance & Career Education, Milwaukee Public Schools,
P.O. Box 2181,
5225 West Vliet Street,
Milwaukee, WI 53201-2181,
and cover the following area:
1. Biographical Information
2. Career Goal Statement (approximately one paragraph)
3. Essay on a Current International Issue (no more that 3 typed pages, double-spaced)
4. Letter of recommendation from guidance counselor
5. Letter of recommendation from community leader
The MPS Guidance office screens and forwards applications to the NCIM Scholarship Committee for final selection.
Awards are approved by vote of a general meeting of NCIM.
